My son has been in Cub Scouts since first grade. As a fourth grader, he is a Webelos I. Along with Cub Scouts comes our annual Blue and Gold Banquet. What a fun time!
Since our den was in charge of planning the event, I volunteered to make centerpieces. Upon a Google search, I found this
idea.
Now please remember that my craftiness is still a work in progress. I do not have a Cricut like this lady did. But, I did have the support of my family, who helped me assemble these for our annual banquet.
We started by collecting soup cans. My husband painted them and cut holes around the top:
I found a cute scrapbook paper to wrap around the outside:
Ok, I am missing some pictures here. Next, I printed copies of the Law of the Pack and the Cub Scout Promise. I tore the edges and glued directly onto the can.
Then, we put rocks in the cans along with shredded orange construction paper. I created 'flowers' by cutting 2 3x12 inch strips of paper. We folded them accordion-style and glued the edges.
Next, I cut circles to go in the middle. Pictures in the middle of the 'flower' included a campfire, canoe, tree and a tent.
We created stars, which included the fluer de lis and Cub Scout Motto. They were all assembled onto skewers and here we are:
The centerpieces added something special to the tables. Also, they were a great family project to get the family working together.
