Arbor Day

My children are blessed to receive a free tree when they are in 4th grade. This is all part of an Arbor Day program (I am not sure if all states do this or not). When my oldest was in 4th grade two years ago, she received a very small dogwood tree (our state tree!). It blossomed with a few leaves, but unfortunately died with the harsh winter.

This spring was my son's turn. He is so proud of his oak tree.

It has actually grown in size, since this photo was taken. It is about 6 inches taller and has lots of leaves. He is doing his best to keep it watered and cared for.

These trees have taught my children to take care of nature and love the 'little' things. Seeing how they will grow to be big and full.
